DISCIPLINE & DISMISSAL
Positive, acceptable behavior is
encouraged at all times. If the teacher
determines that a child's behavior is unacceptable, the child will be placed in
a "time out" chair in the classroom for a period of no longer than
3-5 minutes. The teacher will then
discuss the behavior and encourage the child to behave in a more acceptable way in the
future. If behavior becomes a continual
problem we will request a conference with the parents and enlist them in
helping the child to improve classroom behavior. If we are unable to see improvement in a
child’s behavior, and that child continues to be a serious disruption, the
child may be dismissed from the school.
The school will give parents one (1) week written notice whenever possible.
If a child is extremely
aggressive or dangerous to other children (biting, scratching, hitting,
pinching, cursing or throwing of toys or furniture) it may be necessary
to
remove the child on shorter notice. The preschool staff is to report
suspected child abuse as is required by 63.1-248.3 of the Code of
Virginia to the proper authorities.
